The DeBrett experience is like no other in New Zealand.Located in the heart of Auckland's CBD, Hotel DeBrett links two unique precincts - High Street's hip fashion and Shortland Street's tailored commerce. As owners we have tried to create a warm and welcoming environment with careful attention to detail and personal service. Each room has its own distinctive style and mood. All feature our bespoke carpet, designed by Michelle Deery, hand woven from 100% New Zealand wool, it is a dominant feature throughout the rooms, and invites you to kick off your shoes and let your feet sink in.All bathrooms feature black penny round mosaic tiles which reference the original art deco honeycomb mosaics, and are complemented by the polished black granite floors, warmed by underfloor heating. Hotel DeBrett is the winner of the NZ Institute(TM)s Heritage and Conservation Architectural award.Room rates include:* Continental Breakfast* Wifi Broadband* Local telephone calls* Pre-dinner drink in guest drawing room served between 630pm and 7pm each evening'Kitchen' restaurant awarded "2009 Metro Best New Auckland Restaurant".Experience contemporary New Zealand cuisine featuring the best local produce prepared and cooked with care. Great downtown base to explore Auckland. Spacious suites. Lounge and library are great to chill in.. Original touches well done. Rooms interiors don't quiet work but a good attempt. certainly a great place to stay.

If youre not high-rolling, and you want to be treated like a 2nd class citizen and have someone like the owner Michelle look their nose down on you and not care if you have good service because you dont look rich.. then go and stay at Hotel DeBrett!! You would think its gonna be great! It has amazing decor - high priced rooms, its got to be great! WRONG Dont make the same mistake as me. I was fooled by appearances. Ive had better service from cheaper hotels like The Grand Chancellor and they treated me with normal human respect even though I didnt look like a business owner etc... The owner of Hotel DeBrett dont care about you if youre not rich and they know it and they dont care that they make you feel like that. People who write good reviews about this hotel are the rich folk, the staff are great to them.. if you want to know what it feels like to be a 2nd class citizen and be reminded that youre not 'that' rich so why should we be nice to you... go and stay at Hotel DeBrett

Beautifully decorated hotel, and helpful staff. Bed was lovely. Bathroom spot on. Tasty muffins and home-made muesli at breakfast. DVD library and board games in the drawing room were useful when auckland had been exhausted. The only thing I can fault them on, is that they aren't too sharp at replacing the tea and coffee in the room. Something another reviewer mentioned. Phone reception and they sort it though.
